Ankara is a beautiful fabric that has been in existence for the longest. The fabric is so colorful and does a good job of announcing our heritage and what we stand for. Over the years we have seen this fabric grow from being used to make our traditional Iro and Buba, skirts and blouses, and plain gowns to being used to make Western styles like, two-pieces, jumpsuits and playsuits, Palazzo trousers, and even blazers.
Iyabo Ojo is clad in a vibrant, colorful Ankara piece made in a very unique style. The fabric has a beautiful array of colors including black, navy blue, orange, purple, and others. The trousers are a simple one made unique with a double layer of flay additions from the knee.
The flay is made such that the length of one is much shorter than the other which reaches the ground. For the top, she is wearing a wrap-around crop top with enormous sleeves. This top is made mainly with an organza material but has the bodice underlined with the same fabric of the material.
Iyabo’s hairdo is beautiful big locks with bulbs at the tip, made out of kinky. It takes you years back to when Afro was in full trend. She is also carrying a uniquely design bag, that resembles an ornate palanquin with tyres. It is gold and red with rose petals on it.
This look was worn to the premiere of the movie “Black Smith” which is now available for view at all cinemas near you.
