It reads office-appropriate on short nails, which black rarely manages.

Espresso is the brown I keep coming back to — glossy, almost wet-looking, nothing like the flat matte chocolate everyone wore two years ago. It’s warmer than burgundy and softer on the hand; burgundy has a violet pull that can look severe under office lighting, while espresso just looks like coffee. Try it in a magnetic cat-eye finish if you want it to shift toward bronze when your hand moves. I’ve had mine on three weeks and still catch it in the car mirror.
