The Nigerian music industry is undoubtedly one arm of the entertainment industry that has been making big waves globally and many have been reckoned with by so many elite awarding organizations one of which is the grammy award.
The grammy award can be said to be one of the most prominent in the entertainment industry and is known to have many categories across every facet of entertainment.
Due to the number of talented artists in various categories globally, the Grammy can be considered a lifetime achievement if won and very few Nigerian artists with the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Angelina Kidjo, have been privileged to win in their categories.
Amidst all impossibilities and circumstances, Tems won the 2022 Grammy award in the best melodic rap performance category with Future’s song ‘Wait for you’ which also featured Drake.
The announcement of the female singer and songwriter as the winner of the 65th Grammy award ceremony in that category alongside Future and Drake makes her the only Nigerian Female Afrobeat singer to have ever won the grammy. This is a dream come true for any artist who gets nominations and goes out to win and definitely is a big win for the singer, the music industry, Nigeria, and women generally.
Tems who is known for her unique voice and song styles have been privileged to be nominated and win several other awards both locally and internationally.
As we congratulate Tems on this very rare and unique opportunity of a lifetime we hope she bags more global awards and continues to win.
